Is this an off season April Fools joke?

Sun is changing its NASDAQ trading symbol from SUNW to JAVA? To emphasize Java? At a time when all the cool stuff (1, 2) coming from Sun has nothing to do with Java? Is this a really strange joke?
Also, note how all the cool stuff has an "Open" prefix. And note how Java does not.
