# 25: Coca Cola contained Cocaine
This reminds me of a project I once read about but cannot find a reference for: Some school somewhere collects and publishes lists like this to remind teachers that the children in school don't have the same frame of reference they do. To most of the kids the cold war is as distant as WW2, for younger kids, the Internet has always been as available as electricity and so on. Posted by Claus at April 13, 2004 06:39 PM | TrackBack (0)
Found a nice summary of some of the facts of life in 1904 - among them the easy availability of marijuana, heroin, morphine and cocaine (conveniently contained in your Coke).
- Coca Cola contained cocaine.
- Marijuana, heroin and morphine were all available over the counter at corner drugstores. According to one pharmacist, "Heroin clears the complexion, gives buoyancy to the mind, regulates the stomach and the bowels, and is, in fact, a perfect guardian of health."
